Fostering Connection ~
Our curious and
celebratory approach
At Coastal Connections Collective, you will find your clinicians want to celebrate you! While we ask you to stay curious and be open to new experiences, we hold ourselves to the same standards.
-
Culturally Celebratory
Instead of proclaiming we are culturally competent, we understand that no matter how robust our education may be, we cannot possibly know every individual’s experience. Letting our client’s share their life stories and tell us how they experience the world, and how they feel the world experiences them is the first step in celebrating you. In the meantime, we take our education on cultural competence very seriously and work in the role of advocates.
-
Neurodiversity Affirming
We see neurodivergent individuals as whole, complete individuals. If that sounds like a no-brainer to you, we agree! However, historically, many treatments viewed neurodivergence as lacking instead of simply seeing differences and strengths. Our clinicians enjoy partnering with neurodivergent individuals and rewriting the narrative on neurodiversity.
-
LGBTQIA+ Affirming
Coastal Connections Collective is a safe haven for queer and trans folks. We are committed to providing care that is affirming and makes our clients feel safe, accepted, and understood.

Partnering with Parents
Play therapy is most effective when therapists and parents work together as a team. Both Courtney and Jane strongly believe that as your child is building skills independently in the playroom, you remain an essential part of the therapeutic process. While continuing to maintain your child’s confidentiality and respecting their autonomy, we will schedule parent check-in sessions approximately every 6–8 sessions (or sooner if requested by you or recommended by the therapist!) We are committed to providing practical strategies to use at home, and helping you better understand your child’s emotions and behavior. Through ongoing collaboration, skills and goals will be reinforced outside of sessions so that together we can provide consistency and support for your child’s emotional growth.
"All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we're giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That's one of the things that connects us as neighbors—in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver."
— Mister Rogers
